We are currently carrying out a Land Management Plan (LMP) revision to help us determine future management proposals for Inglismaldie and Denlethen.

An LMP details how we intend to manage our land over the coming 10 years, indicates our vision for the next decades and ensures compliance with industry legislations and guidance.

The new plan will set out future management objectives and will give approval for felling, thinning and restocking operations. Through the new plan we want to continue to ensure the social, economic and ecological benefits the forest block provides.

The current stage of the plan is the scoping stage in which we welcome stakeholders to get in touch with any issues or constraints they are aware of that might impact the development of the new plan.

Inglismaldie and Denlethen LMP area is made up of three separate blocks, all of which lie adjacent to the A90 trunk road, between Aberdeen and Dundee, and close to the town of Laurencekirk. Together they cover approximately 337 hectares.

Inglismaldie is located 7.5km southwest of Laurencekirk and is made up of two main blocks, Capo Plantation and Inverury Woods by the village of Luthermuir.

Denlethen is a single small block adjacent to Laurencekirk.

The blocks largely consist of coniferous species which have sustained significant windblow in the storms of 2021 to 2024. Several areas of windblown have already been cleared leaving significant sites for replanting. Denlethen still contains pockets of windblow.

Through this revision we want to address issues around forest stability and the presence of windblown crops. Subsequent restocks will aim to diversify species and age class to ensure a resilient forest in light of the changing climate. Because of the proximity of Laurencekirk we will look to maximise recreational value of the Denlethen block.
