Important

Warning: there’s an extreme risk of wildfire across Scotland from Friday 11 April. Please follow Scottish Outdoor Access Code guidance and call 999 if you see a wildfire.

Elibank, Traquair, Caberston and Thornielee forests form the central and largest part of Tweed Valley Forest Park. Totalling 3543 hectares, they are situated close to the communities of Innerleithen and Walkerburn.

This composite land management plan (LMP) brings together three previously separate forest design plans: Elibank and Traquair, Caberston and Thornielee. Recent land acquisitions at West Bold and Ashiestiel, adjacent to Elibank and Traquair, are covered by separate new woodland creation LMPs. West Bold LMP was approved in January 2021 and Ashiestiel LMP was approved in January 2022.

This plan sets out how we will manage these forests for the ten years between 2021 and 2031.

The successful delivery of this plan will contribute to the objectives of Forestry and Land Scotland's Corporate Plan, as well as priorities, objectives and vision of Scotland's Forestry Strategy. The plan has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and its supporting guidelines. The UKFS is the benchmark for sustainable forestry practice.
